KATHAK WORKSHOP | February 2024

Kathak is one of the eight major classical Indian dance forms. It originated in Northern India and is known for its intricate footwork, graceful movements, and storytelling through dance. Kathak dancers often wear traditional costumes and perform to classical music, using expressive facial expressions and body movements to convey narratives from Indian mythology, history, and literature. The dance style has a rich cultural heritage and continues to evolve while preserving its traditional elements.
Dr. Kavita Thakur is an Indian Classical Kathak practitioner trained by legendary Gurus such as Guru Munna Lal Shukla Ji and Padmavibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj Ji and is equally educated having done her PHD in Kathak.
